Adult Education
 

Each year The Parish of the Epiphany offers a dynamic and challenging Adult Education program that seeks to support  parishioners in their faith journey and to provide opportunities to deepen our understanding of the Christian faith.

 

The Adult Education Forum Hour begins on September 16 and is held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. each Sunday.

 

Open Doors, Open Minds, the interfaith discussion between Temple Shir Tikvah, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, and the Parish of the Epiphany, meeting monthly at 7:30 p.m.

 

Our newest offering Disciples of Christ in Community (DOCC) begins on October 9th and meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m..


The Sunday Adult Education Forum Hour

 Pilgrimage to Jerusalem

This presentation will focus upon the spirituality of pilgrimage, prayer, history and theology, as well as thoughts on the crisis for Christians in Israel and the West Bank.

September 16 Reflections presented by Epiphany’s pilgrims to the Holy Land.

 

The Once and Future Church

This five week session will address the issues of transition and transformation taking place in the   Episcopal Church in the United States and the worldwide Anglican Communion. It will include time for in depth discussion and response to the presentations.

Vital and Viable Congregations

A look at the strategy of building the Christian faith in the Diocese of Massachusetts. The Diocese of Massachusetts is engaged in developing new strategies for parish ministry. How can The Parish of the Epiphany play a vital role in this mission?

Conversations with the Rector

Each fall and spring Epiphany sets aside a Forum Hour for discussion of issues in Congregational Life, Church politics, History, Theology, Spirituality or any other topic with the rector.

The Oxford Roundtable

The Rector will present to the parish his paper delivered this summer at Oxford University on the general topic “The Clash of Civilizations – Islam and Christianity”

The Experience of Mission at Epiphany

An in depth look at Epiphany mission relationship’s with St. Stephen’s Church in the South End, El Hogar in Honduras, and the Gulf Coast Partnership. There will be an opportunity to discuss the experience of mission and outreach in the  parish.

November 25 The Reverend Natasha Stewart, Assistant Rector

 

Faith – A Mother’s Story

Olivia Woodford returns in a reprise of her Advent portrayal of Mary and her struggle of faith. Ms. Woodford is a professional actress and founder of the Healing Center. She is a theatre artist dedicated to bringing the sacred into people’s lives.

December 2 This theatrical performance will focus on the events surrounding Mary and the birth of Jesus and portrays the women who were close to Mary.

 

The Labyrinth

Using the labyrinth for prayer and preparation, an examination of the journey to God and the spirituality of the Labyrinth as a means of prayer.

Perfect Freedom

An Advent exploration into Christian faith as a powerful witness to faith in God and personal wholeness. How does the Christian faith provide a realistic framework for encountering God? Mountford believes in the reality of God and finds God “in the wound and not the bandage.”
