Confirmation!

Confirmation classes are offered to all high school students. We will begin the class on Sunday, February 4th at 12:30pm. We ask all parents to also attend the first class with their children. This year's class will focus on experiencing your faith through actions. Below you can find a draft of our curriculum.

These classes will end with the confirmation ceremony on May 12th with Bishop Tom Shaw, here at Epiphany. If you are interested in attending these classes and being confirmed in your faith please contact the Rev. Natasha Stewart at nstewart@3crowns.org or 781-729-1922.

2/4 Natasha Bob	Introduction to course and Expectations: find a sponsor, journal entries are required and the Confirmation Retreat is highly recommended Activity: Scavenger Hunt in the church to find information out about the church Parent’s meeting: what is expected of the kids and of the parents (lunch sign up) during the confirmation process. Also get them to write a letter their kids about their faith or what confirmation means to them…	Write a letter to yourself about what your faith means to you.

2/18	No Class: School Vacation
2/25 Bob	Trip to the Fogg about Medieval Church History	What other time period in history would like to have lived in? Why? What would you believe if you lived then?
3/4 Suzanne	Church Music	What is you favorite piece of music and why?
3/11 Bob/Roger	Liturgy: Fun with vestments and altar vessels
3/18 Natasha	Common Cathedral in Boston: We will need to leave before 12:30 to attend this event service at 1pm.	If you were about to be homeless and you could keep five things, what would they be and why?
3/25 Natasha	Sacraments workshop	Tell about something that is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual gift you have received in your daily life.
3/30-3/31 Natasha	Confirmation Retreat weekend ~ they are home on Saturday and we will NOT have class on Palm Sunday.
3 weeks off for Palm Sunday, Easter and School Vacation	They must attend all the Holy week services. Also must do a service project or ropes course with St. Stephen’s South End	Write about your experience of Holy Week, the ropes course or other service project you completed at this time. What did you like? What did you dislike? Why? What fears did you have going in? Why? What did you learn?
4/22 Bob/Natasha	Visit the Temple	How often do you interact with people from other faith traditions? Which ones? How? What things do you like about those other traditions? Why?
4/29 Natasha	Jesus Skits: In small groups the kids act out different parts of Jesus’ life in their own interpretation. Birth, teaching, healing, miracles, praying, death, and resurrection.	Rewrite your letter to yourself (don’t look at your first one!): What does your faith mean to you?
5/6 Natasha	Crop Walk	We have done a number of “Actions” in this course. Why do you think it is important to act out our faith? What does Jesus have to say about this? Do you agree? Why?
5/12	Confirmation Day!	Will receive both letters to self to see how their faith has changed/grown over the past 10 weeks.
