At this time she will be presented with a remembrance gift - if you would like to contribute to this gift make your check payable to the Parish of the Epiphany with Suzanne’s gift written in the memo line. Checks should be sent to the office by 2 June.

> Offer a tribute to Suzanne - either in a note, letter, or card. These can be left in the box in the office. Deadline is 2 June.

2013 Concerts in the Cloister

The 44th season of Concerts in the Cloister will feature music and art.  Following the first concert on June 13, we will celebrate the opening of this year’s art show featuring Winchester area artists. The four concert series offers a wonderful array of artists and musical styles.

 Thursday, June 13

We welcome members of the Winchester Community Music School faculty, Sylvie Zakarian, marimba; Olga Talroze, piano; and Carola Emrich-Fischer, mezzo-soprano; for Through Love:  An Artist's Journey via Time and Place. The program will include original and transcribed works for marimba and percussion, mirroring Ms. Zakarian's international travels. Woven through this repertoire are the colors of the artist's Armenian-Bulgarian roots, a truly international selection of pieces and sonorities.

Thursday, June 27

Four of Boston’s finest string players, Katherine Winterstein and Shaw Pong Liu, violins, Tanya Maggi, viola, and David Russell, cello, will perform a concert of string quartets by Dvorak and Mozart: Strings for a Summer Evening.

Thursday, July 11

Patrice Williamson, one of the hottest jazz vocalists in the region, will be joined by her band, the Patrice Williamson Group, to perform Then & Now: The Great American Songbook, a concert of jazz standards and some fabulous new songs destined to become “standards.”

Thursday, July 25

The acclaimed chamber opera company, Intermezzo, will bring us scenes from the newly commissioned opera, Anne Hutchinson. This will feature Marion Dry as Anne, David Kravitz as John Winthrop, and Ray Bauens as John Cotton. The opera written by award-winning opera composer, Dan Shore, and librettists, Bill Fregosi and Fritz Bell, focuses on Anne’s trial for heresy/treason in Cambridge in 1637.   Members of the creative team for the opera will be on hand to discuss the opera, its topic, creation, and production.

Study of the Epistles: Acts of the Apostles
9:30-11:00 Thursday mornings in the Suter Room

After having successfully wrestled with Paul’s Letter to the Romans, the class will now devote the remainder of spring and early summer a reading of The Acts of the Apostles (Luke’s narrative of the Christian movement from the resurrection of Jesus to the time when the Apostle Paul was in Rome). This will help to provide critical background knowledge for the class’ upcoming study of Paul’s mission to bring the gospel of Jesus to both gentiles and Jews in the Roman Empire of the 1st century.  By tackling fundamental issues in the formative stages of Christianity, the course helps participants to reflect how the early Christian debates remain relevant today.

The class meets weekly on Thursdays in Hadley Hall’s Suter Room until mid July and all are invited to join us.  Those who need hearing assistance will be supported by quality listening technologies. For questions about the course, please contact the Epiphany Office or John Jenke (781.729.4462).

How Epiphany can join the “B-PEACE” campaign

In response to the death of Jorge Fuentes on September 10, 2012, Bishop Tom Shaw initiated the Jorge Fuentes Anti-Violence Task Force, which has been meeting monthly to determine an actionable plan to address root causes of violence throughout our Diocese.  The Task Force has now launched the B-PEACE for Jorge Campaign, which will organize parishes and congregations in areas including gun reform, educational partnerships and youth jobs.  Click here to learn more about the campaign
