Guest Preacher Sunday: Wadie Far Seminarian from Jordan

We’re delighted that the Parish of the Epiphany was chosen as one of the Parishes where seminarians from Palestine will preach. Wadie will be with us at both services on Sunday, 26 March to preach. From 9:00 until 9:30 all are invited to join the Sunday Bible study group, The Word for Today in the Suter Room. At 9:30am, Wadie will meet with us in Hadley Hall to talk about his experience as a Jordanian studying for the priesthood in the United States.

Wadie is a seminarian at the Virginia Theological Seminary in the class of 2017, and comes from the Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East, which includes Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. His home is in Amman, Jordan; his sending Parish is the Church of the Redeemer in Amman. In Wadie’s culture, the norm is that you will live at your parents’ house until you are married, so Wadie used to live with his parents, his sister Dima, who is studying to become a veterinarian, and his younger brother William, who is in the fourth grade, and their two cats Vicky and Mickey. He enjoys scuba diving, and is also a gamer. If you do not know what that is you should ask someone from the youth group.

Before discerning a call to ordained ministry, Wadie received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, which is located in Irbid a city in the North of Jordan. Then he worked as an electrical design engineer, where he worked on many exiting projects that varied from villas to small boat storage facilities to hospitals. During both his studies and work, Wadie volunteered at his home Parish as a Sunday school teacher, and a youth leader.
