Music & Worship Taskforce

The Vestry appointed the Music/Worship Task Force to consider ways in which we could best address the combined worship and music preferences of the parish.  At the same time, we wanted to be sensitive to the impact of our service schedule on our Minister of Music, Suzanne McAllister and on the choir members, who must forego Adult Education sessions to prepare for the 11:15 am service.  At the recommendation of the Task Force, the Vestry is asking each parish member age 16 years and older  to respond prayerfully and thoughtfully to the survey.

The survey is intended to determine your interest in: 1) a possible change in the weekend service schedule and 2) considering, for one service per weekend, options for different worship formats.

Copies of the survey will be available on Sundays at the back of the sanctuary from now until October 1st and again on October 4 at our parish pot luck dinner.

The Vestry will review the results at its November meeting and will hold a parish forum on December 3, following the 11:15 am service to allow everyone an opportunity to comment

on the survey results.

Curriculum for Middle and High School Students

This fall we will be starting a new curriculum for the middle and high school students called Journey to Adulthood.  This is a six or seven year curriculum beginning with sixth or seventh grade and finishing at the end of high school.  Journey to Adulthood focuses on the spiritual formation of teenagers in today’s society.  It balances Bible study and prayer, through both serious and playful activities to nurture the whole person during the difficult passage from childhood to adulthood.  The curriculum is broken down into three sections: middle school is called Rite-13 and aims to help kids develop a sense of self in their changing bodies and world. High school students are broken down into two groups: first J2A (Journey to Adulthood), and then YAC (Young Adults in Church). These sections focus mainly on teens responsibilities to other people in the world and as a church member.  All middle school and high school students are welcome to join us on Sunday mornings at 10:15 as we explore our journey to adulthood together.
