New Beginnings As I think about what is happening at Epiphany, I realize that this is a time of new beginnings. The parish is beginning a new program year with lots of exciting and educational opportunities planned. The new Director of Christian Education, Kathleen Kenney, is beginning her ministry with the Sunday school and Children’s Chapel. And I am at the beginning of a new ministry as your Assistant Rector.
New beginnings can be both exciting and scary. I am reminded of the women who go to Jesus’ tomb and find it empty. After they see the empty tomb, they are told that Jesus has risen from the dead. They run to tell the apostles what has happened, but I am sure that they must have been both excited and scared. They now know that Jesus truly is the Son of God as he said he was. However, they must also be worried about what that means for the future. This was a new beginning for them in their ministry of spreading the Good News.
As I start my ministry with you all, I am often a little fearful of the unknown but I am also delighted to be here at Epiphany. And I continue to be impressed by all the marvelous work you are doing as a parish, and thankful for how kind everyone has been as I settle in. I know this fall will be full of fabulous events and great learning opportunities. I can only be excited when I think about us all eating lots of shrimp, learning about Islamic-Christian relations, sampling some fine wines, and taking a trip to Biloxi, among many other upcoming events this fall. I am looking forward to growing in our faith and fellowship together. - Rev. Natasha Stewart

Katrina Relief Mission Trip A little over one year later, and our neighbors on the Gulf Coast are still struggling with the consequences of Hurricane Katrina. I heard, from a group that went down to Biloxi in May that they still had over 700 building repair requests and over 600 homes they need help to completely rebuild. The next trip to Biloxi, MS to assist in the reconstruction effort is being organized by three members of a previous mission trip last March. This next trip will be from November 5-11. We will be leaving from Logan Airport November 5 at 11:15am and returning at 8:06pm on Saturday, Nov. 11. This is an adult trip, with an emphasis on construction projects. However, volunteers can also help in the kitchen, assist in distributing supplies, and medical personnel or clergy can help in a nearby clinic. The total cost will be around $450 to $500 and it includes airfare, all food and lodging at Camp Biloxi, where we will be staying, and ground transportation. No one should be discouraged by the expected costs, please speak with Rev. Stewart if you would like to come and need some help with funds. If you are interested in helping out please speak with Rev. Stewart soon.
Third Sunday Offering The September collection of $620 is going to the Katrina Relief Fund. Thank you for your generosity.
Sharing Blessings and congratulations go to Mona Brown and John Downey who were married at Epiphany on Sept. 10.
Next Baptism Date All Saints’ Sunday, Nov. 5th is the next date for people to be baptized. Please call the office for more information.

Calling all Youth: we need your help! Middle school and high school students are invited to help at the Shrimp Boil on Oct. 1st. We need 20 people to help serve the shrimp (dumping it on the tables!), and then to clean up afterwards. We also need 10 high school students to help with the stewardship “Sprits to Spirituals” event on Oct. 21st. You will be serving appetizers and helping in the kitchen. These are great opportunities to help others and you parish family in need and give back to your community. If you are able to help with either of these events please let Rev. Stewart know at nstewart@3crowns.orgor 781-729-1922
Parish Survey The Vestry wants to remind you to fill out the parish survey regarding our worship services and music. The forms are available in the back of the church or submit it online at www.3crowns.org Completed surveys should be put in the white boxes located in the back of the church and in Hadley Hall.
The Vestry asks that you thoughtfully answer each question. We want your voice to be heard as we make important decisions regarding our worship practices |
