We serve: Micro lending

Microlending
Since June 2009, Epiphany has been supporting entrepreneurs through Kiva.org. We have supported 23 women and men working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Honduras, Kenya, Palestine, Pakistan, Paraguay, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda and Zambia with micro loans. These loans, along with loans from other individuals, help them build their own businesses, loans they conscientiously pay back over time which we in turn loan out again to help more entrepreneurs.

This year, the theme of micro lending was carried through Epiphany's Sunday school program with their focus on "small gifts yield big rewards" where we collected mite boxes during lent to raise enough funds to purchase some chicks, a goat and a llama to empower families to pull themselves out of poverty. We also read the book "One Hen" on how one small loan made a big difference for a family and their community in Ghana.
