we worship: lay ministry

Lay ministry is “bearing witness to Christ wherever we may be, and according to the gifts given us, to carry on Christ’s work of reconciliation in the world.”  BCP, page 855.

The Parish of the Epiphany has a strong and vibrant laity; it is an integral part of what defines Epiphany and gives it identity. The people of this parish community, their relationships with each other and with our church, and the work they do both within and beyond our walls, is part of their individual spiritual formation and also part of the formation of Epiphany as a community. Who we are and what we do in service to God, to one another and to the world at large—is our ministry.

The backbone of lay ministry at Epiphany is comprised of the work of all our various committees and guilds, the governance of the Vestry, as well as all those who participate in various roles during our worship services. The service of the laity runs throughout all aspects of life at Epiphany. Lay ministry at Epiphany is also found in our many-faceted outreach projects, as we minister to those beyond the walls of our church.  The Chairs of our Committees and Guilds come together several times a year to share information about their respective ministry areas, to brainstorm new ideas together, to find points of collaboration, and to learn and grow as a leadership group.
