we worship: welcome
You are welcome at the Parish of the Epiphany !
Whether you’ve already been inside of Epiphany, a building described by a late Bishop of Washington, Angus Dunn, as “the most beautiful middle-sized church in America” (a bit of a stretch, but ours is indeed a very beautiful church), or are church shopping on the internet, we welcome you to this vibrant and growing community of Christian faith.
Epiphany is among Winchester’s treasured landmarks. The building looks and feels very much like “church.” It’s sturdy and majestic, and it’s among the finest examples of Arts & Crafts ecclesiastical architecture in the Boston area. But, we don’t worship our building. Our building is here so that we can worship God, and that--the worship of God and friendship with Jesus Christ--is what we do, and it is the mission which we invite you and your loved ones to join. We think of our church as a gift, something our forbearers bequeathed to us, but a gift that we’re called to give to others, to give perhaps to you.
You are welcome here. Join us on a Sunday morning at 8:00 for a quiet service of Holy Communion, or at 10:00 where there is outstanding music, and a children’s chapel service for elementary school-aged children. For infants and toddlers we have a professionally staffed nursery. Children of all ages are also invited to remain with their parents for all or part of the worship service. Following the 10:00 liturgy, from 11:15 until 12:00, there is Christian formation for all ages.
An excellent Church School for children, from toddlers to high schoolers, staffed by trained teachers and faithful parents, and a widely-respected adult forum which connects the issues of life with the blessing of Christian discipleship and the challenge of social action, are the pillars of our Sunday morning.
On Tuesday mornings, at 9:30am, we invite you to a service of Holy Communion and Healing.
We believe that St. Benedict, who taught his monks a great deal about hospitality, had it right: “All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ.” (from the Rule of Benedict 53:1). At Parish of the Epiphany we endeavor to welcome you in this way.
The Parish of the Epiphany offers many ways to go deeper and to discover a warm, caring community, and a place of belonging while you get to know us. Your spiritual journey will be respected, your questions welcomed, and your participation celebrated.
