Dear friends,

We've had a great week at the Parish of the Epiphany. We had a wonderful baptism with just the cutest, giggly little baby. We had an in-person church school class full of caring for others. We had a vibrant zoom class with friends near and far. We had two youth group meetings, with laughter and new friendships. And all this was just in our Children's and Youth ministries areas! Even in this deep, cold winter of omicron, this faith community is alive and busy.

We will continue our in-person and zoom Church School offerings through our winter term. This weekend there is no Church School due to the holiday, but beginning on January 23 families may choose whether to join us via Zoom at 9am, or in person in Upper Parish Hall at 10am.

All families who are registered for Church School (either in-person or faith-at-home) will receive a bag delivery next week with materials, including our current zine and other fun activities. Whether you plan to join church school in-person, on Zoom, or as a family at home, these materials are for you.

Our youth groups meet again this weekend with Eva on Sunday. The High Schoolers (grades 9-12) will meet from 11:15am-12:15pm. (Please note the new time.) The Middle Schoolers (grades 6-8) will meet later in the evening, from 5:30-6:30pm. Please see Eva's announcement for more details, below.

We look forward to seeing you--in-person or virtually--soon!

Best wishes,

Bryn

Church School Bag Deliveries Are Back Again: Can You Help Next Week?

On Thursday, January 20 and Friday, January 21 we'll be sending Church School materials home to all our children. This is a big operation so we need help. Can you swing by the church and pick up bags and addresses from Bryn, and then make doorstep deliveries? Please sign up HERE and know how incredibly grateful we are for your continued support as we make sure all our children stay connected, engaged, and healthy through our current surge. Questions? Email Bryn.

    THANK YOU!

Middle and High School Youth Groups: Join Us this Sunday!

Our Middle and High School youth groups have started up again! Both groups will meet in the Garrett (at the top of the stairs) at the following times:

High School (grades 9-12): 11:15am to 12:15pm (NOTE NEW TIME)

    Middle School (grades 6-8): 5:30pm-6:30pm

All participants will remain masked while indoors. For information on how to join the meeting virtually, or if you would like to join the Youth Ministry team as a volunteer, please reach out to Eva Dalzell.

Communion Enrichment Update: Now March 26 & 27

Our Communion Enrichment weekend, for children in grades 2-5, will be March 26 & March 27. We are hopeful that our community will be in a much healthier place by then, and that we'll be able to fully enjoy our time together.

The Communion Enrichment retreat from 9-11am on Saturday is an in-person program, followed by Communion Enrichment Sunday, where the children join the Rector up front, take communion, and participate in the service.

Saying Farewell to Craig this Sunday: Take Two

We will celebrate Craig Benner’s ministry among us during the 10am service on January 16. Please join us to wish Craig and Darren well as they head for New York City.

Craig has been a core part of our Children's and Youth Ministries for many years. He has led our choristers; mentored our youth musicians; been beside us through Vacation Bible School; helped with B-SAFE visits; worked on our Christmas pageants; provided music for our Outdoor Family Services; and lead our children and youth music programming for Midweek. He's also done a million support jobs behind the scenes. We will miss him dearly, and we are so grateful for his years with us.

The Parish has plans for a personal gift as well as a contribution to the Music Fund in Craig’s honor. This fund, supported largely by memorial gifts, is made available to the Director of Music to fund music-related projects that might not otherwise be possible within Epiphany’s operating budget. Among other things, Craig used the fund to replace the chairs in the upper parish hall, much to the delight of the choir and other users of that space! We hope to replenish the fund for the use of Craig’s successors, much as Craig healed and replenished us when he arrived at Epiphany nearly five years ago.

Contributions in Craig’s honor can be made by check to the office (marked “music fund/Craig Benner”) or online (select music fund and enter “Craig Benner” in the memo box). Cards and notes are also welcome and can be left in the office.
