Music: Special Music

Special Music

“Be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God.” Ephesians 5:19

Friends of Music

The music at Parish of the Epiphany exists because of the generosity of parishioners, as well as that of outside supporters. Please do consider becoming a valued Friends of Music donor here at Epiphany.

Friends of Music donations go into the Music Fund, which is used to supplement our music ministry. This fund enables us to offer special services such as Choral Evensong and Lessons & Carols, concerts both sacred and secular, and allows us to supplement festival services, all of this offered freely to the Glory of God and for the enrichment of the parish and larger community.

Friends of Music donors will, if they wish, be acknowledged in the printed programs of concerts and special services throughout the season. We welcome donations of any amount at any time. Your gift helps ensure that we are able to offer our very best back to God and to the community. Please consider giving today toward the vitality of our music ministry for tomorrow, a ministry which supports our passion to invite, welcome, and connect the larger community to our life here at Epiphany. The donation form can be printed out and submitted via mail or e-mail. Online donations are also possible, choosing the “Music Donations” option in the drop-down menu (please do still complete and return the donation form). Many thanks for your support!

Community Concerts

The rich tradition of music brings guest musicians to Epiphany for the enjoyment of the community. Each concert offers a unique opportunity to experience different instruments, voices, and styles. Admission to all concerts is free of charge; donations to benefit future concerts will be gladly accepted.

Evensong

Evensong is a contemplative evening service of music led by the Parish Choir. It follows a traditional pattern from the Book of Common Prayer and includes sung psalms, canticles, and anthems. The service often begins quietly, then rises to majestic swells as we lift our voices in praise. Our Evensong service is held on occasional Sundays at 5pm and lasts about 50 minutes.

Lessons and Carols

As we transition from Advent into Christmas, we celebrate the season with one of the most beloved services of our church year. At 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2023, we will read and sing the story of the season. The carols change each year, giving us the chance to hear anew the blessings of Christmas in word and song.
